As you are all aware, this has been a challenging time for our province and our country and sport has not been immune to the uncertainty of the times. On Monday, the Board Members of Saskatchewan Artistic Swimming gathered together and carried a motion to cancel the “in person” Marnie Meet that was to be held in November, 2020. This was a difficult decision to make but the safety and health of our athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers and spectators is our number one priority.
However, all is not lost! SAS is busy working on an alternative virtual competition to take the place of the Marnie Eistetter Figure Meet and the Whole Athlete Development Camp. We recognize that it won’t be the same but we feel it is a good opportunity to try a virtual event in case additional virtual meets are necessary in the future. We do not have all the details finalized but it will likely involve the athletes competing in 2 figures that are recorded and delivered to the judges. It will be done in the athletes’ home pools and the athletes’ videos would be put in a draw order to maintain anonymity, just like they would in a regular figure competition. Again, we will provide more details as they become available.
