Joel Stroeder Appointed Competition & Athlete Development Director
Following an extensive search, SAS has appointed Joel Stroeder as the new Competition & Athlete Development Director, effective April 1, 2026.
Joel brings a strong background in aquatics, technical leadership, and athlete‑centred programming. In this role, he will be responsible for:
- Leading and delivering provincial athlete development camps, mobile camps, and high‑performance support initiatives
- Overseeing technical preparation and delivery for all SAS‑sanctioned competitions
- Providing on‑site coaching support and compiling technical feedback resources
- Serving as staff lead for the Competitions Committee and Grassroots Committee
- Collaborating with clubs, Canada Artistic Swimming, Sask Sport, and the Saskatchewan Games Council
- Contributing to provincial planning, reporting, and program development
SAS looks forward to the experience and energy Joel will bring to athletes, coaches, and the broader artistic swimming community.
Claudia Holzner Named Sport Development Director
SAS has also created a new position—Sport Development Director—as part of a strategic effort to strengthen coach education, enhance technical consistency, and elevate high‑performance programming in Saskatchewan.
We are excited to announce that Claudia Holzner has accepted this role. Claudia will continue her current duties until August 31, 2026, and officially begin as Sport Development Director on September 1, 2026.
This new position will focus on:
- Leading coach training and development opportunities
- Providing consistent guidance on rules, technical standards, and best practices
- Designing and managing the provincial High‑Performance Program, including athlete monitoring, camps, and team initiatives
- Supporting officials, clubs, and committees through coordinated technical leadership
- Strengthening relationships with Canada Artistic Swimming, Sask Sport, and member clubs
Claudia’s expertise, vision, and passion for the sport will help advance coaching, high performance, and athlete pathways across Saskatchewan.
