Fourteen Saskatchewan Routines Qualify for National Championship after National Qualifiers in Montreal, Quebec

Over 570 Canadian athletes, coaches and officials were in Montreal March 25 to 31st to take part in this year’s Canadian Artistic Swimming (formerly synchronized swimming) National Qualifier.


Synchro Saskatchewan is pleased to announce that fourteen routines qualified for their National Events. A total of eighteen athletes from the province of Saskatchewan took part in the competition in the Junior and 13-15 age groups.


Julie Sauve, past Olympic coach and consultant for Synchro Saskatchewan’s High-Performance Program continues to be thrilled with the athletes’ performances and progression, stating “These young women are turning into superb athletes”.


Towards the 2019 Canadian Championships:
As the name suggests, the Canadian Qualifier is the opportunity for competitors to qualify for the final competition of the year, the Canadian Championships. The following Saskatchewan High Performance Athletes earned tickets to the Open National Championships, which will be held May 4th to 11th in Kamloops, BC.


Saskatoon Aqualenes: Sydney Carroll, Ainsley Bristol, and Bailey Hargreaves qualified in Junior Tech and Free Solo. Sydney Carroll/Ainsley Bristol and Bailey Hargreaves/Anna Dolgova qualified in Junior Tech and Free Duet. The Aqualenes 13-15 Team consisting of Payton Bristow, Alora Brown, Jordyn Friedt, Joley Friesen, Emily Jorgenson, Kiara Kroetsch, Sienna Kuchuan and Anna Tchoursine also qualified.
Regina Synchro: Kaibrie Lumbard qualified in 13-15 Solo and Aurora Chernoff/Bronte Cawkwell qualified in 13-15 Duet
Team Saskatchewan Ainsley Brostol, Sydney Carroll, Anna Dolgova, Bailey Hargreaves, Kaibrie Lumbard, McKenna Martin, Emma Rainbow and Kallie Lumbard qualified in Junior Tech Routine.


Results:
In Junior Free Solo Saskatoon Aqualenes Sydney Carroll placed 11th, Bailey Hargreaves 18th and Ainsley Bristol placed 21st out of 30 routines. In Junior Tech Solo Sydney Carroll 16th, Ainsley Bristol 18th and Bailey Hargreaves 26th out of 41 routines.
In Junior Tech Duet Saskatoon Aqualenes Sydney Carroll/Ainsley Bristol placed 8th and Bailey Hargreaves/Anna Dolgova placed 16th out of 32 routines. In Junior Free Duet Sydney Carroll/ Ainsley Bristol placed 8th and Bailey Hargreaves/Anna Dolgova placed 10th out of 24 duets.
Team Saskatchewan (provincial team) placed 10th in Junior Tech Routine out of 20 teams.
In the 13-15 Solo Event Regina Synchro Kaibrie Lumbard placed 25th out of 33 routines and was Saskatchewan’s top figure result placing 33rd out of 227 athletes. In the 13-15 Duet Event Regina Synchro Cadence Chernoff/Bronte Cawkwell placed 23rd out of 32 routines. Saskatoon Aqualenes 13-15 Team placed 17th out of 27 routines.
