Saskatchewan Routines Qualify for Four Final Events at Synchronized Swimming Nationals in Windsor, Ontario

April 30, 2018 – Over 325 Canadian athletes, coaches and officials converged on Windsor, ON, on April 24-28 to take part in this year’s Canadian Artistic (Synchronized) Swimming Championships. Held at the Windsor International Aquatic & Training Centre, the 5-day competition featuring a total of 14 different events in the Junior and Senior age groups.

Saskatchewan High Performance Athletes Sydney Carroll and Jenna Willie from the Saskatoon Aqualenes and Cady Chernoff and Ainsley Bristol from Regina Synchro represented Saskatchewan at the National Championships.

 

Elise Marcotte, Synchro Saskatchewan’s High-Performance Consultant and two-time Olympian was thrilled with the athlete’s personal best performances and progression, stating “These young women are turning into superb athletes. These performances are results of our planning leading up to the 2019 Canada Games.

 

Athletes must place in the top twelve in preliminary events to advance to Finals. Two Saskatchewan athletes qualified for the Junior Free Solo Final Event and one for the Junior Tech Solo Final Event. One Saskatchewan duet qualified for both Tech and Free Finals.

 

In the Junior Solo Free event, Sydney Carroll placed 7th and in the Junior Tech Solo event she placed 11th. Together these marks culminated to an 8th place finish in Canada for the Junior Free Solo Combined Championship result. Jenna Willie placed 9th in the Junior Free Solo Final Event.

 

Saskatchewan athletes Jenna Willie and Sydney Carroll qualified for Junior Tech and Free Duet Finals, placing 9th in Junior Tech and 11th in Junior Free. All culminated to a 7th place finish in Canada for the Junior Free Combined Championship result.

 

Cadence Chernoff and Ainsley Bristol placed 18th in Junior Free Duet and 21st in Junior Tech Duet. This young duet, Cadence still in the 13-15 age group and Ainsley being a first year Junior, shows amazing future promise.
