SASKATCHEWAN ATHLETES Named to Canada Winter Games Team and 2018/2019 High Performance Program

Synchro Saskatchewan is pleased to announce and CONGRATULATE the following athletes who qualified the 2019 Canada Winter Games Team and for the 2018/2019 High Performance Program. The HP Trials were held June 10th, 2018 in Saskatoon. The High-Performance Program is a Synchro Saskatchewan initiative that develops elite level, high performance athletes with funding from Synchro Sask and Sask Sport (via lottery dollars).

These ten athletes compromise the 2019 Canada Winter Games Team that will train part time together at centralized weekend training camps. Working with the Canada Winter Games Coach, Manager, and High-Performance Director, these athletes will have access to a wide range of technical and sport medicine support services within the High-Performance Program. The Canada Winter Games Team will represent Saskatchewan in Team, Duet, and Solo events at the Canada Winter Games in 2019 in Red Deer, Alberta.

All Excellence and Development Athletes and their coaches in the province train together at centralized training camps under the leadership of the High-Performance Director, Laurie Wachs, and HP Consultant. Centralized weekend training camps provide Excellence and Development athletes and coaches the opportunity to share in a common vision. Shared goals help athletes and their coaches from clubs across the province achieve standards that are in line with those developed by Synchro Canada for Excellence and Development level athletes. All camp content will reflect Synchro Canada’s Canadian Sport for Life Model.

 

Additionally, Synchro Saskatchewan is pleased to announce the following athletes who were named to the 2018 Provincial Development Team.

  3. Sienna Kuchuran – Saskatoon Aqualenes
  4. Anna Tchoursine- Saskatoon Aqualenes

 

These four athletes named to the 2018 Development Team participated in two four-day training camps this past summer where they learned and performed a National Level Team Routine.

 

The provincial development team program identifies, develops, and provides additional training hours/skill development for Development Athletes who are not quite at the provincial team level or who did not qualify for the provincial/Games team.

Synchro Saskatchewan is the provincial sport governing body for synchronized swimming in Saskatchewan. Synchronized swimming is a sport which offers recreational to competitive programing. Saskatchewan synchronized swimming has a proud history of producing national and Olympic athletes.
