Marnie Eistetter receives Saskatchewan Volunteer Medal - March 26, 2015

Synchro Saskatchewan is VERY Pleased to Congratulate Marnie Eistetter for being chosen as one of eight recipients for the 2014 Saskatchewan Volunteer Medal. Marnie was nominated by Synchro Saskatchewan for which we thank Kirsten Brough and Pat Cooley for their work submitting this nomination.

Marnie was chosen to receive the Saskatchewan Volunteer Medal for her ‘outstanding volunteer’ contribution over the years within Saskatchewan. Her current volunteer positions with Synchro Sask are as the Nominations & Recognition Chair and the Medals & Awards Coordinator however has served the sport of synchronized swimming in our province over 5 decades in volunteer capacities too numerous to mention. Marnie started in the sport as a support to her daughter who was a synchronized swimmer. Long after her daughter left the sport, Marnie’s volunteer efforts have continued.

“She is a passionate advocate of sport and a visionary to what sports can mean for girls in their journey to become women”, says Brenda Lyons, past-president of Synchro Sask. “It is through Marnie’s efforts that our coaches, swimmers and volunteers are publically recognized for their work in keeping our sport at the national level”, says Pat Cooley, current synchro Level 4 judge and member of the SS nominations committee. “One of the first volunteers I met when I began my work with synchronized swimming was Marnie Eistetter. She
welcomed me into the sport with her warm personality and her spirit of ‘what can I do to help you succeed in your journey with synchronized swimming?’ Through the years, Marnie has served as a mentor and cheerleader to many volunteers in our sport. She has influenced many volunteers over the years to serve our sport in an athlete centred manner”, adds Kirsten Brough, current synchro Level 4 judge and member of the SS nominations committee.

As well as devoting her volunteer time to synchronized swimming, Marnie has also been involved with several other sport committees and organizations that have hosted competitions and programs in Regina; the Brownies, Beavers, Cubs and Guides, the Board of Globe Theatre, the Saskatchewan Heart Fund, Arthritis Society and Cancer Society, was one of the original organizers of the Block Parent program in Regina and helped start up the Neighbourhood Watch program in Albert Park, the Seniors University Group, the 2003 Grey Cup Committee, the 2007 National Canoe Kayak Championships, the Provincial KidSport Committee, the Regina Sports Council, the Sask Sports Hall of Fame and Museum, the 2005 Canada Summer Games, Sask Sport and many more.

While Marnie never does volunteer work with personal recognition in mind, this is an honour that she is more than deserving of.

The Lieutenant Governor will present the medals to the eight recipients in April in Regina.

You are an Amazing Woman Marnie & Extremely Worthy of the Saskatchewan Volunteer Medal!!
